Psoriasis Diet - Natural Remedies For Psoriasis

By Linda Robison of Wrinkle Free Skin Tips

Drugs and remedies for Psoriasis is big business today. Did you know that there are over 250,000 new case of psoriasis diagnosed each year?

It is reported that Americans spent over 1.5 Billion dollars this year to treat this psoriasis. With these numbers, it’s no wonder many people are searching for natural remedies for psoriasis.

Psoriasis sufferers are often embarrassed to out in public without covering up their skin. In addition, many psoriasis medications often have negative side-effects; leaving psoriasis suffers desperate to find a natural remedy.

Psoriasis Facts: Many psoriasis flare-ups are often brought on by certain environmental and dietary causes ….including extreme temperature changes, stress, anxiety, and certain medications like Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID). NSAID are used to treat inflammation, fever and pain.

Psoriasis Diet: The National Psoriasis Foundation reported that some people find relief from flare-ups by avoiding certain foods like caffeine, sugar, white flour, and alcohol. These seem to dehydrate the skin and aggravate dry skin symptoms – which is very common with psoriasis.

People have also reported good results when increasing their intake of healthy oils like olive oil and/or eating more oily fish like Salomon. Consider taking fish oil capsules if you don’t care for fish. It also might be safer due to the high amounts of mercury and toxins found in oily fish these days.

Probiotics seem to help some people too. Consider eating sugar free yogurt or taking probiotic supplements – like acidophilus – which can be purchased in any health food store.

Psoriasis symptoms have one common trait: dry itchy, scaly, thick white patches of skin. This is the usually the most irritating symptom and is caused by excessive replication of skin cells, which is up to 8 times faster than normal skin. That’s why skin exfoliation and moisturizing are two important factors for psoriasis healing.

While there are plenty of herbal or homeopathic natural remedies for psoriasis on the market here is something to consider. If your natural psoriasis remedy does not effectively do the following four things….then it’s probably not going to be helpful. A good psoriasis cream must be able to:
- control rapid skin cells replication
- exfoliate dead skin cells
- hydrate the skin
- promote skin healing

Interesting article, I think if avoiding refined flour is good for psoriasis sufferers, it should be good for healthy people too who just want better skin.
