Pictures Of Skin Cancer - Skin Cancer Warning Signs

By Linda Robison of Wrinkle Free Skin Tips

Pictures of skin cancer aren’t pretty to look at. They remind us blatantly of just how sensitive our skin really is, and the damage that can result from too much UV light. Having said that, skin cancer pictures can become a great teaching tool. Reviewing a skin cancer photograph can help people identify potential problems in their own skin for early detection and treatment. There are usually about five signs of skin cancer, but most people tend to miss them.

Overall you want to pay special attention to any of the following five signs ……lumps, spots, or moles, sore spots that don’t heal well, and suspicious growths or scaly skin patches. If you find something like what you see here on your body, it’s very important to get it checked as soon as possible.

While there are many types of skin cancer, some signs are very easy to miss. In this article, we’ll discuss 3 types of skin cancer that are either very aggressive or very common and are easy to miss.

Carcinoma – is a type of skin cancer begins as a small red bump. The skin cancer warning signs are frequent bleeding. This type often appears in the areas of one’s ears, lips, nose and forehead (all the places that get a lot of sunlight). Overall this is the most common type of cancer, accounting for 80 percent of head and neck cancers.

Malignant Melanoma – while a little more rare type of skin cancer than Carcinoma, this type is very dangers and aggressive. Individuals with a family history of melanoma are at greater risk off contracting this cancer, as are people with long-term exposure to sunlight without proper protection.

Similar to Carcinomas, Melanomas are more common on the upper body, but they can appear anywhere. Some of the warning signs when you look at this image is an irregular edge to the lesion, odd coloring (different than connective skin), and if the spot is 6mm or greater (and growing). One note: some melanoma may present smaller than 6mm.

Kaposi’s Sarcoma. - creates patches on the skin that may be brown, pink or purple like a bruise. This generally starts in one spot on the body, then it can spread anywhere. As with Melanoma this cancer is aggressive and often requires radiation therapy.

With these skin cancer pictures in mind, doctors recommend that individuals should do routine self-checks seeking out any sign of changes. People with fair skin, light eyes, those with family histories of skin cancer, and those who have spent a lot of time in sunlight without protection have the highest risk, and should be doubly diligent. If any questionable skin patch appears, consult your doctor.
