Common Rashes - Natural Cure

By Linda Robison of Wrinkle Free Skin Tips

Common Rashes

Just hearing the word rash may make you feel itchy. The term itself covers a lot of territory. Basically common rashes alter the look and feel of your skin. Some are very small, while others may appear throughout the body.

The causes of skin rashes are nearly as diversified as the type of skin rashes. A person can get a viral rash, bacterial rash, one caused by fungus, a sun poisoning rash, sweat rash, or one even brought on by stress. The pictures of rashes featured in this article can help you with a basic rash diagnosis. However, many rashes behave alike so getting a medical skin rash diagnosis and treatment protocol is always a good idea.

Common Types of Rashes:

One of the most common rashes is Atopic dermatitis, which is a kind of eczema. This rash is one tied to genetics and usually manifests in childhood. The general symptoms include patches of dry, scaly skin on the legs, arms, and chest. As a person gets older the Atopic dermatitis can also appear on the hands, as a groin rash, and on knees or elbows. The worst time of year for sufferers is winter due to cold, dry weather that may make the eczema even more itchy.

The common treatment for eczema includes cream with cortisone to help ease itching and swelling, at least for mild-moderate cases. Prescriptions and shots are sometimes recommended in severe cases, such as when the skin crusts badly or seeps.

A second very common rash is contact dermatitis. Basically your skin comes in contact with something that irritates it or to which you have an allergy. Poison ivy rash is one example. Contact dermatitis is typically an itching rash, and as such many people turn to hydrocortisone cream as an over-the counter relief. If you know the source of the contact dermatitis the best way to avoid repeat performances to avoiding that allergen or irritant, or taking precautions like wearing long sleeves if you have to be around it.

Two other rashes that are scaly in character are pityriasis rosea and psoriasis. The latter is genetically linked and manifests predominantly on the body as a leg rash near the knees and elbow rash. Pityriasis rosea, by comparison, is common in young adults and appears as patches on the back and chest. This generally goes away over a month’s time.

There are of course many other scaly rashes. Two worth mentioning are Psoriasis, a hereditary condition affecting elbows, knees, and elsewhere, and Pityriasis Rosea. Pityriasis Rosea affects teens and young adults, producing scaly patches on the chest and back and generally disappearing in about a month.

Fungal Rashes:

Fungal rashes don’t appear quite as often as do those like eczema. They are scaly in nature, but not all scaly rashes are a fungus. Yeast infections can be mistaken for a fungal infection, for example. Nearly anyone can get a fungal rash, and they’re not overly contagious. Initially try treating this rash with an anti-fungal cream or spray. If the rash resists this, or gets worse, see a physician.

Internal Rash Aid

If you’re experiencing any type of common rash, like a prickly heat rash, fungal rash, or HIV skin rash, you should consider addressing the immune system. A good herbal or homeopathic product taken internally can help not only strengthen the immune system but also cleanse and purify the system from the inside out. And, unlike mess anti-itch creams, a good internal immune system builder is messy and helps to achieve a holistic balance in your body, specifically your skin. This way, not only does it help relieve rash symptoms but it also supports your heath going forward.
